On Saturday morning, our mission was to discover a solid hip-hop album to end the week off on the right foot. With us coming across "Don't Try This at Home" by Ronnie G, we have exactly that. The project provided a pleasant listening session with mid-era Lil Wayne samples, quite a few uptempo bangers, and an incredible poetic outro. I found myself enjoying the album more and more as it progressed, and is overall a potent dose of pure artistry.
The album is adventurous from “With My Eyes Wide” to “Speculations / Lost on Road”, including 14 infectious tracks that have been recorded over the last 4 years, according to Ronnie G. He also used Evil Knievel audio clips throughout the album to bring the album theme to life. The production is top tier, the flows are unique, and we felt he showcased more than enough lyrical talent to gain some new fans here at the office. We felt the artist created his own musical world for this project, considering it’s nearly impossible to say he sounds just like another artist. Don’t Try This at Home was released on September 3rd, 2021 and is now available on all streaming services.
