1- Great to have you on our blog. Please, introduce yourself?
I’m Scarlett from Scarlett Siren & The Howlin’ Tramps

2- What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
My love for music started when I was young as I can remember. I started playing piano at the age of 4., and singing in a choir when I was 6. When I was 12, this guy playing guitar on the street asked me to sing. He said “just feel it from the hear” and played a 12 bar blues. That was the first time I sang improv, and when my love for blues was born.

3- Tell us about your new EP. And what’s the story behind it?
My 4 song EP is inspired by the story of Ruth Ellis. A woman given the death sentence in 1955 after she shot her abusive lover.

4- What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?
Psychedelic swing. It’s mostly jazz, blues, and swing, with psychedelic rock influences like Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors.

5- What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not capable of accomplishing your goals.

6- Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
One of my biggest influences is Amy Winehouse.
She was an incredible artist.
I would love to collaborate with Dan Aurbach someday, hes one of my favorite musicians who’s still alive.

7- If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
Never let anyone detour you from expressing your true self.

8- What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
We will be releasing our new EP January 15th. And on January 16th we will be having a live performance with burlesque, comedy, and circus performers. It’s called Pink Elephant Cabaret, and will be at the Star Theater in Portland.
If we can get enough support from crowdfunding we will be planning a tour next year.
